Plan Review and Engineering Services

As specified in Section R301.2.1.1 Design Criteria of the 2018 International Residential Code, construction in areas where the basic design wind speed is 140 vult or greater shall be designed in accordance with one of the following:

  • AWC Wood Frame Construction Manual (WFCM)
  • ICC Standard for Residential Construction in High-Wind Regions (ICC 600)
  • ASCE Minimum Design Load for Buildings and Other Structures (ASCE 7)
  • AISI Standard for Cold-Formed Steel Framing – Prescriptive Method for One- and Two-Family Dwellings (AISI S230)
  • International Building Code

Coastal Building Inspections provides engineering services for its clients in addition to quality inspection services. When a plan is reviewed, a design of the structure or construction project is provided to the builder or client in accordance with the design requirements specified by the IRC. The design will outline construction details relevant to the specific plan. A windstorm design plan and windstorm detail is necessary for all new construction and additions that involve framing. This complete construction package allows the client to complete the project in accordance with the requirements of the IRC, and allows Coastal Building Inspections a uniform inspections package.
